Winter Activities Around Virginia Beach

When you’re looking for great winter festivals around Virginia Beach, you’ll find a whole list of fun events. But we’ve narrowed it down to what we think are the top three events in the area.

The Bacchus Wine & Food Festival at the Virginia Living Museum will take place this year on February 6th. The food and wine festival will feature samples of fine wines and delicious foods from local restaurants and wineries. Live music, silent auctions and great company with friends, neighbors, and colleagues make this an event you’ll remember.

Bacchus Wine and Food Festival From 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. guests will enjoy highly rated wines with priority access to tastings from all restaurants. The main event takes place from 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. and includes wines and fare from local restaurants including Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, The Point at Phoebus, Tucano’s Brazillian Grill, Montero’s Restaurant Bar and Catering, Schlesinger’s/Opus 9 and more. The event is sponsored by Old Point National Bank, Thomas Nelson Community College, Virginia Health Services, and more. Proceeds from this event will support the Virginia Living Museum’s community science education programs. Virginia Living Museum is located at 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd. in Newport News, VA, just a 45 minute drive from central Virginia Beach.

The Winter Wildlife Festival takes place at Great Neck Recreation Center from February 5th through the 8th. Registration for the festival is free, but you’ll want to check out the registration form to sign up for some of the great events going on. There are so many things to learn, people to hear speak, and fun things to do including a rain barrel workshop, Cape Henry tour, and a Pleasure House Point birding event. Workshops, exhibits, and activities for children and adults are just a few of the wonders offered at this winter festival. Great Neck Recreation Center is located at 2521 Shorehaven Drive in Virginia Beach. Register online or at the registration center front desk during regular hours. Their hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., on Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 8:30 P.M., on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., and on Sunday from 11:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. The Polar Plunge Winter Festival will be held in Virginia Beach from February 6th through the 7th. The event includes a Cool School Challenge plunge, Plunge 5K, Pee Wee Plunge, and Polar Plunge as well as a great festival of events. The festival will include a fun costumer contest and costume parade, as well as delicious offerings from local food vendors. Each plunger raises a minimum of $100 to go toward hosting free community events for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. All plungers will be entered to win some great prizes all according to their level of fundraising including t-shirts, beach towels, hotel vouchers, Busch Garden fun cards, Water Country fun cards, and even gift cards. The event will take place on the oceanfront between 6th and 9th streets in Virginia Beach.
